2009 Baseball - Early Season Update
Juniors Pirates
Sat 3/14/09 Pirates: 14 - Yankees: 13
Pitching in the game was Alex Robertson, Jean-Luc Steinmetz, Jake Armstrong, and Dylon Lyons. Jean-Luc Steinmetz, Austin Stanton, and Jimmy Dixon each got a hit.
Mon 3/16/09 Spaceballs: 1 - Pirates: 15
Jean-Luc played third base. He was cleated in the kneecap trying to put out a runner sliding into the bag so he sat out the final half of the game due to the injury. Don't worry folks, he's fine.
Edgewood
Jean-Luc is the starting pitcher for the Edgewood Baseball Club. In his first game against the Juniors, he got a hit and made it home for a run. In the Club only game, he was the starting pitcher. Haven't received the stats from this game, so that's it for now.

At the top of the second inning, Anton Steinmetz took a walk. The next two batters were struck out. Austin Parrish hit a big hopping double out to the gap between center and right field. In the third inning, Anton Steinmetz reached on error and earned an RBI bringing Bennett home. The White Sox had a big fourth inning. Anton Steinmetz took a walk. Tyler McKenzie hit a high double to left field that took a lucky bounce towards the side fence to bring home both Price and Bennett. Steinmetz came home on a passed ball as Nick Nielsen took a walk and then went to second base on a passed ball.

At the bottom of the second inning, Tigers pitcher Steven Williams walked the first two batters, William Shepard and Jon Carver. Shepard went round the bases on a stolen base and passed balls to score a run. Carver nearly accomplished the same thing but was stopped sliding in to home by quick action by catcher Chris Steinmetz who tagged Carver as he was sliding by. All spectators in the stands were glued to the game as the score was tied going into the fifth inning and both sides were playing strong defense. Tigers batter Bryan Darnell reached on error. The Rays brought in relief pitcher Wyatt Walker. Sam LaMonde took a walk, then both he and Darnell were brought home by a monster double to the far right field hit by Kavin Murphy. Chris Steinmetz earned an RBI but was put out by a throw from the second baseman to first.
