Delta Launch

The Delta launch was beautiful this morning! You can see it go "over" the moon. There is Venus below the moon, and if you look carefully, you can see the tiny smoke puffs from the expended boosters near the middle of the picture.

From SpaceFlightNow: The United Launch Alliance Delta 2 rocket launched the eighth modernized NAVSTAR Global Positioning System Block 2R military navigation satellite. The launch was the final Delta 2 mission run by the U.S. Air Force. The rocket flew in the 7925 vehicle configuration. Delayed from Sept. 11 and Dec. 18, 2008. Moved up from Aug. 21.

St Augustine

We went to St Augustine for the weekend. Chris did not get a school trip because the funding was cut, so we did a family trip instead. We had a great time, but it was cut short because Aunt Jennifer died on Thursday. Bill will be going up for the funeral on Tuesday.

We drove up on Friday evening after Chris' baseball practice. We spent the night at a Hampton Inn in Vilano Beach which is right next to St Augustine, only 2 miles away. We spent Saturday touring St Augustine. First we went to the Castillo de San Marcos. Then we got the sightseeing tour from Ripley's which took us around the historic part of St Augustine. We made a couple of stops. One was for lunch at the Mayan restaurant (yum), another was the Spanish Military Hospital. The boys played mini-golf at the Marina. We rode out the remainder of the tour because we were hot and sweaty.

We went for dinner at O'Steen's on the recommendation from Mr. Finney. It was an hour wait, but it was worth it! The shrimps were delicious! Then we went to the beach for a half hour. Then on to the Ripley's ghost tour. Sadly, we didn't meet up with any spirits.

Disney (again)

We went to Disney yesterday. Again. Did you know the price went up to $79!! It was Chris's birthday. He turned 10. Give me a moment to silently cry, I don't have any more single digit kids. Chris got in for free yesterday. I forgot my camera which to those of you who know me is unbelievable. We got this photo of us going down Splash Mountain. You know the boys spent the entire first half of the ride figuring out which "pose" they wanted. Me, I just screamed my head off!

It was really hot. Really, really hot. But after about 2pm, it got better. We had a nice time. We saw all the usual stuff and a few more things (Snow White's Scary Adventure (don't need to do that again) and the Magic Philharmonic).

We were able to convert the tickets we bought last week with the tickets we bought this week to 4 day Florida Resident passes for about $125. That's a deal - 2 more days for 5 of us for $125. Did you know the price went up to $79!!
