Anton and Mariah surprised me with a wonderful Thanksgiving visit! They told me they were going to New York with friends for the holiday, then turned up at home late at night. I found out the next morning. I'm so happy to have all three boys home for Thanksgiving this year! Here we are playing Headbanz. So funny!

I took Mariah shopping today, we had a great time! Also had her nails done, and they are beautiful. She is a very sweet girl.

Atlas 5 GOES-R Launch

Beautiful night launch of an Atlas 5! If you look real close, you can see the booster rockets falling off on the left hand side.

From SpaceFlightNow: A United Launch Alliance Atlas 5 rocket, designated AV-069, launched GOES-R, the first next-generation geostationary weather satellite for NASA and NOAA. GOES-R will orbit 22,300 miles above the equator to monitor weather conditions across the United States. The rocket flew in the 541 vehicle configuration with a five-meter fairing, four solid rocket boosters and a single-engine Centaur upper stage. Delayed from March 11. Moved forward from Oct. 14. Delayed from Oct. 13, Nov. 4 and Nov. 16.

Movies

Saw Doctor Strange with Bill, Julie, Dave, Melanie, Julie-ana, and Kat. Fabulous! Loved it, Benedict Cumberbach was great as Doctor Strange. And I also loved Chiwetel Ejiofor's character. Tilda Swinton was pretty good as the Ancient One. Plenty of action and some funny bits. Definitely a good addition to the Marvel universe. And there was a little after movie clip with Thor, interesting.

East Coast Oracle Users Group Conference

Spoke in Raleigh, NC at the East Coast Oracle User's Group Conference on "A Case Study in BICS".  It was so tiring! Our BICS instance expired two days before we were supposed to speak, so I spent the night before completely rebuilding the instance on a demo BICS instance. And, on the way to Raleigh from New Orleans, my flight was so delayed that I missed my connection and had to spend the night in Atlanta.  So glad it's over!
