Juniors All-Stars

The first game against PSJ we lost 6-3.  The MISLL team made 10 errors, 3 of which were Anton's!  Holy cow!  He played left field for most of the game, then moved to shortstop in the sixth inning.  He made one assist and one putout.  At the plate, he was 1 for 3 with a nice double over the left fielder's head.

Movie Night

Saw Prometheus today.  I liked it, but there were some pretty darn silly plot holes.  Like when they found an alien species, the characters went right up to it and put their faces next to it.  The action and special effects were good though, and I liked the ending.

Universal Studios Weekend

Universal in a tropical depression, what were we thinking! On the good side, there weren't many people at the park...  We had tickets that expire next Saturday (and we already have plans for that day), so we went yesterday and today. Yesterday there was no rain, but today was sort of miserable.

So we got a room for Saturday night.  Chris and I came out to Islands of Adventure yesterday as Anton had All-Star practice.  So Bill and Anton came out around 1:30.  Jean-Luc came out with his friends and then spent the night with us.  We went to Margaritaville for volcano nachos at the end of the day.  No rain, but it was overcast all day.

Sunday it rained all stinkin' day.  Several of the rides were closed.  There weren't as many people, so we zipped through most of the rest pretty quickly.  Around 2pm, we were all done and wet, so we came home.  Tropical storm Debbie did us in.

Air Boating and Leaving the Country

Today is the last day.  Celso and his family head back to Brasil today.  They finished up with the packing, and then we headed out.  We stopped to go air boating at the Lone Cabbage Fish Camp.  Yvie wanted to do it before she went back home.  Afterwards, we went to the airport and said our goodbyes.  I'm sad to see them go, it's been a very fun week and a half.

Kennedy Space Center

Went up to Kennedy Space Center today.  There was supposed to be an Atlas launch, but it got pushed back to Wednesday morning, the day after they leave.  Had breakfast at Grills at the Port, then on up to KSC.  Had a very nice time, and of course the Saturn 5 exhibit was a big hit.  Then pizza for dinner while they packed and got ready to leave tomorrow.

Rays v Marlins

Went to the Rays v Miami game in Tampa yesterday.  Patti loved it!!  And the Rays won!!  Woo Hoo!!  We also took Connor and Christain.

Afterwards we went to Vito's in Orlando on I-Drive to meet Julie and family for a Father's Day dinner.

Universal Islands of Adventure

Islands of Adventure today.  It was very nice weather-wise, and the lines weren't too long.  Julie, Dave, and Julie-ana joined us for the day.  And we saw Giselle Godt and her family when we got there.  Tried to do the Hulk straight off, but it went down as Jean-Luc and the rest were about 10 people back.  So we skipped over to Toon land then on to Harry Potter.  Celso loved the butterbeer!  Had lunch at Hogwort's, then on to Poseidon.  Then back through Jurassic Park, and on through to the Hulk were it was working this time.  Topped it off with dinner at Margaritaville.

Sea World

We went to Sea World today after a day of shopping in Merritt Island.  Patricia liked Sea World liked Sea World a little better because there were more shows.  And they all loved Shamu!  And the dolphins, and the otters and sea lions, etc.  Haha!

And Yvie got a chance to hit the roller coasters with Chris.  They did Manta and the Kraken.

District 22 Tournament, con't

Anton's final two games were no-shows.  So they came in third place out of five teams!

For the final Majors game, they played the IRC Braves.  And they won, 14-0!!  After all the dust cleared, there was a three way tie for first place.  And then after much calculating, the MILL Mj Marlins were declared the District 22 Champions!!  Woo hoo!!

Ok, so in the last game, Chris played catcher again.  Anthony Iacabucci pitched the entire game, and Chris was great at not letting any passed balls get by with all his off-speed pitches.   He was 2 for 4 at bat with 2 RBI, both hits to left field.  And he scored a run in the sixth inning.

Family from Brasil visits

My cousins from Brasil came today for a long visit - 10 days.  Celso, his wife Patricia, daughter Yvie, and son Paulo.  Celso is Cecilia's son, and Cecilia is my mother's sister.  They graciously got off the plane, went to the beach, then off to Chris' game!

And, today was Paulo's birthday, he's 15!

District 22 Tournament, con't

Both games were rained out for several days.  Chris had another game earlier today against the PSJ Pirates.  The Marlins won, 11-1.  Chris played catcher again the entire game.  He threw out a third strike runner at first base in the third inning.  At the plate, he was 1 for 3 with an RBI in the fifth inning.  In the fourth inning, he was hit by the pitch.

District 22 Tournament, con't

Sadly, both teams lost last night.  Chris' team was 8-3 Rockledge, and Anton's team was 15-1 Rockledge.  Here's a summary and a picture of the Causeway Diners after their game:

Chris:  He played catcher the whole game again.  In the fifth inning, he threw the ball to get the batter out at first after a sacrifice bunt.  In the sixth inning, the pitcher threw him the ball at home to get the runner out trying to steal home.  Then in the next play, he caught a pop up fly ball near home plate.  Batting at the plate, he went 1 for 3 with a single towards right field and brought home an RBI.  He also eventually scored on this hit coming home with an error on the catcher.

Anton:  He played shortstop most of the game, which only lasted 5 innings.  Coming in to pitch in the second inning and then going to centerfield at the middle of the third.  Then back to shortstop.  He was involved in a bunch of plays!  The first batter hit it towards him, and he fielded it to first base for the out.  In the second inning after he took over pitching, he had two plays in a row where the batter hit it to him, and he fielded it to first for the out.  Same thing in the third inning, short hit towards him that he fielded to first for the out.  In the fourth inning back at shortstop, the team stopped a runner from stealing second base.  The pitcher threw it to first base in a pick off attempt, and then first baseman threw it to Anton who tagged the runner out on his way to second base.  He had a big, fat error later in the inning where the batted ball rolled right between his legs...  Then, in the fifth inning, he started it off by catching a fly ball hit to him, and ended it with another fly ball hit to him.  Batting at the plate, he went 2 for 2 with a long double to right field and another long single to right field.  The first hit brought in the only run the team scored.  The second one should have been a double, but he was tagged out right before he hit second base.

District 22 Tournament

Both Chris and Anton's teams are in the District 22 tournament.  They have the same exact schedule, but at different places!  Chris' team won their first game against Mims, 8-6.  Anton's team lost against PSJ, 6-2.  Here's a summary and photos of Chris' game.

Anton: He played shortstop for most of the game and left field for two innings in the middle.  He caught a fly ball in the sixth inning.  He did not do well at the plate, going 0-4 with 2 strikeouts and 2 putouts.  I hope he does better next time!

Chris: He played catcher the entire game.  He did slightly better at the plate, he was 1 for 2 with a base on balls, a single, and a pop up that was caught by the pitcher.  I was at this game, and all the kids played great!  Of note: Marty caught a fly ball in left field!  And the entire bottom of the order was on bases loaded in the second or third inning, I thought that was great!  Now, some photos:
