Celso and Phatty visit Miami

Celso and Phatty came to visit Miami this week, so we drove down on Wednesday evening and Thursday to see them. Had a lovely time!  We took Matthew C. with us 'cause he wanted to go.  We got down there and went out for dessert and coffee at the Steak and Shake just in front of the hotel.  Then we went to bed.

Got up early and headed into Miami.  First we stopped at the beach for pictures.  No one was there, it was beautiful.  Then a stop at the Miami Ink place and for Starbucks coffee.  Then off to the Miami Seaquarium for most of the day.  It was a very nice, quaint place.  It's been around for 50 years!  And the home of the original Flipper.  We saw several shows.

After that, we went through downtown (traffic nightmare!) to Starbucks where we just talked for a while.  Then we headed home.  Great day!

Youth Group

The boys went to Youth Group's Red Letter Nights tonight.  Apparently this happened.  Anton is in the Indian Style shirt, and Chris is in the teal blue shirt in the other group.

Movies

Saw Riddick last night with the Mills. First off, I love Vin Diesel. He's great! Second, it was a great addition to the series. Lots of action with creepy alien stuff going on. Great tie-in to the first movie.

Movie Marathon

Had a movie marathon yesterday. Tired from Night of Joy, so we didn't want to go anywhere.

First up was Kick Ass 2. It was a fun remake with all of the same campyness from the first movie. Lot's of action and some mean girls action too.

Next was The World's End with Simon Pegg and Nick Frost. Love them! This was about a walking pub crawl that gets out of hand when they find that robots have taken over the town.

After that was Beautiful Creatures. It was a love story about Casters (or witches). With a nice twist.

And finally we saw The Colony. Straight up sci-fi about the next ice age and people trying to survive the cold and what happens when the food runs out. Some people in the next colony over get eaten by some crazy cannibals, and now the cannibals want them too.

Night of Joy!

Anton, Chris, and I went to Disney's Night of Joy last night.  Had a lot of fun, but was exhausted by evening's end.  The bands were pretty good!

Happy Hour!

Since I'm in northern Virginia (Tyson's Corner) at the Mythics office, I went to Happy Hour with some of my office mates.  It was nice getting to know them better.

Labor Day

Spent Labor Day with the Mills watching them try to cook. Actually, it turned out pretty good. We had fun, and ended the evening with a game of Catan!

Baseball and Movies

So I flew in to Orlando from Washington National, drove to Cocoa to pick up Anton and Sage, and then over to Sarasota for the North Florida Storm Labor Day Bash tournament.

Anton pitched in one of the three games.  He pitched 3 innings and a WHIP score of .33!  He threw 38 pitches to 10 batters, 4 of which were first strike pitches, and 23 total pitches were strikes.  He allowed 1 hit and made 2 strikeouts.  There were 5 ground outs and 1 fly out while he pitched.  He did hit a batter...  But he had an assist from the second baseman (Connor C.) who threw him the ball after Anton ran to cover first for the out.

While we were in Sarasota, we went to the movies. We saw We're the Millers. Very funny, but totally rude!

We had Sage P. staying with us.  He was very nice, also a pitcher only on the North Florida Storm.  We did have to switch hotels when we got there.  The first hotel where the team was staying was totally bug ridden and not very clean.  And it had that 'odor' from smoking and then they try to cover it up.  Yuck!!

But Anton and Sage had a nice time relaxing in the pool and spa at the new hotel, a Hampton Inn in Venice, FL, just south of Sarasota.

And finally, a rainbow over the field. They were playing in a light rain.
