Acapulco - Day 9 - Departure

Went through Mexico City on the way home to Orlando. We stopped for a bite at a Mexican restaurant at the Mexico City Airport, it was good!

Acapulco Day 8 - Final Day

Our last day here. Drinks at Ola Mulatta, lots of games, and a walk on the beach. Sad to say goodbye, we loved it here!

Acapulco Day 7 - La Petit Chef

Slow day after all the stair hiking and walking. Spent the morning talking with Carolina D. getting all the contracts in order with the boys’ names and making them have most of the same upgrades and things. After that was back to the pool bar.
Took a long rest later, then we did La Petit Chef. It was delightful! Of course, we were the only ones. There were little projections onto our plate of a tiny chef making dinner. Then they would place the completed dinner in front of us. There was also a drink maker with a concoction for each course. We absolutely loved watching the little chef meet his demise each course. But I’m still questioning when he came out of the tent half naked and then pulled the naked chicken out as well…

Acapulco Mexico - Day 6 - More Stair Horror

Did the Historic City tour today with Carlos O, our driver. All of us were still traumatized from the previous day of hiking upstairs. First we went over to Old Town (a long drive along the coast) to the Capel of Peace up in the mountains. It was nice and had great views! Then over to Fuerte de San Diego. All of us groaned when we had to walk up the ramp inside the Fort. But the Fort was pretty cool and the shape resembled Castillo de San Marcos in St Augustine.
Then we did a few cliff hotel photo shoots (including stairs), and ended up at the La Quebrada restaurant where the cliff divers dove off the cliff! Had lunch and a margarita while we sat with a front row view to the cliff diving. Down 4 flights of stairs, then up 4 flights of stairs. After that, we stopped by the Hotel Flamingo where a lot of stars stayed. It also had a beautiful view of Acapulco Bay. And at least 2 flights of stairs up and down. Then back to the hotel. We did do a quick top at Starbucks to get souvenir mugs. Our calves were burning!
Back at the hotel, we chilled in the room for a bit and drank some of the Moscato and played cards. Then happy hour at Ola Mulatta and dinner at Mondo with Espresso martinis afterwards. And again, we were the only people there.

Acapulco Mexico - Day 5 - Twenty Thousand Steps of Horror

Today was a day. No power for most of the day. Took the elevator down for the spa, and the spa was closed. Back up to the room where we lazed about for a while with nothing to do. Played some Five Crowns for a bit, then decided to go to the pool bar for the day. The elevator was out, so it was down 10 flights of stairs. However, the pool bar was quite nice.
The waitress from La Petit found us at the pool bar and said we have to reschedule because of the power outage. We rescheduled for Thursday evening because we were already set to do a Historic City tour on Wednesday. When we went back to our room, the elevator was still out. 10 flights up the stairs. This was the effing worst. I barely made it… Showers to rinse off, then down 10 flights for dinner. We tried Mondo, not open. Then Ola Mulatta, also not open but they did say that Limon y Sal was open.
Got over there, and they were open. Jean-Luc ordered the whole fish (I know, right?) for the table. It was delicious, I think it was the Red Snapper. We stayed at Limon y Sal a long time hoping the power would come back on. And thankfully, when we got back to our tower, the power was on. It was a hot, sweaty, and painful day.

Acapulco Mexico - Day 4 - New Beginings

Spa at 8 this time, then breakfast with the sales people. We got Carolina D. Turns out, she was very nice. She took us on a tour of the construction going on for the new Grand Luxxe and DeLuxxe building. Took most of the day, but we upgraded our last contract to Junior Suite in the DeLuxxe. Now we have three contracts for three boys, Carolina came up with that idea.
We were going over the rest of the stuff on there, and found out that we only had the parks on the one contract.
The last guy, Imran, told us it would span all three but that didn’t happen. So they did a special letter so that it would apply across all three and upgraded it to the Premier level. And, she upgraded us to GOLD! And she got our room switched to ocean-side. We did add JL to one of the contracts since here was already here. And we were also able to get the other two boys added to the other contracts as well. Finally met up with the kids for dinner at the Limon y Sal restaurant. JL was going to have the whole fish until he found out it was around $100 USD. Dinner was good overall, and there were two other tables of people. Then back to the new room for wine and games (with Blackbeard). Hahaha!

Acapulco Mexico - Day 3 - Pool Fun

First, did our morning walk. Went to the left side of the resort and then down to the beach. Walked along the beach until the armed guard came upon us and said, “Grand Mayan bracelet?” We showed him our bracelets, then he said “Gates open at 6, go back up.” Glad they are protecting the beach, but how about putting a sign by the only open stairs down to the beach? We saw that the other steps down to the beach were locked.
Went to the spa in the morning. It was luxurious! Veronica liked it better than the Nuevo Vallarta outside spa, and I liked it better than the Rivera Maya spa.
After that was 2x1 mimosas and second breakfast (already had cereal in the room) at Cafe del Lago. JL was pleased with that! Next was the Rio Lento, the Lazy River. No one, and I mean no one else was on it! Very nice, went around twice. But the inner tube was too small for my fat behind!
Next was the pool bar for more 2x1 drinks at the Mayan Palace because the Grand Mayan pool was completely drained. Enjoyed that, the Mayan Palace is much nicer here. Went back to the room after that where Bill took a nap and JL, V, and I went to the grocery store for supplies. Miguel took us, he was very nice. Apparently he will be our chauffeur while we are here.
Next was Ola Mulatta for another 2x1 happy hour. Had the guacamole again which was delicious. Played cards in the room for a bit after that. Then dinner at Mondo. Again, we were the only ones in there the entire time! This was the view off of our balcony.

Acapulco Mexico - Day 2 - Arrival

Took a taxi to the Miami Airport, so glad because it was very early and unfamiliar. Got checked in and through security and found our gate. V and I were getting some coffee from Starbucks. Bill’s came through first, so I set it down to put some cream in it. Then I put the stopper in, but the cup buckled, fell over backward, and then dropped into he trash can! I thought it was going to spill all over the people standing there, but it was a textbook landing into the trash can. Thankfully, they gave me another cup. I used both hands this time. 👐

The AeroMexico flight to Mexico City was uneventful, as was the flight to Acapulco. Surprise! The lady that sat next to me on the first flight as also going to Acapulco, so we followed her through the Mexico City airport.
There was not a shuttle service to the Vida property, so we took a cab. The Acapulco airport was very small and refreshing. In Puerto Vallarta there are 10,000 people trying to get your attention and/or sell you something. The Acapulco airport there was no one! Nice change of pace. The ride over to the Vidanta property was quick.
Aaaaand, there was no other people trying to check in! Again, a Shocker! Such a different experience. We got to the Grand Mayan around 11am, and they let us go up to our room. A third Shocker!! We got off the elevator on the 10th floor, and there was a glorious view of the Pacific Ocean!
Our room looked like a Mayan Palace makeover, but it’s perfectly fine. Unfortunately not facing the ocean though. Then we were trying to find a restaurant that served lunch, but most places opened at noon. Finally found the Ola Mulatto. That place was great! Very different from the one in Nuevo Vallarta. SPMs, and I had the Shrimp Skewers. Yummy!
Everyone else took an afternoon nap, and I was working on PokemonGo Community Day. 😜 Afterwards, went to the Bar (yes, that’s the name for it) for evening drinks and snacky stuff. And finally, bed after a long day.

Acapulco Mexico - Day 1 - Rain Rain Go Away

Jean-Luc, Veronica, Bill, and I started our Acapulco, Mexico vacation today! By that I mean we worked all day, and then drove down to Miami after work. Jean-Luc was driving, and he made good time. Until Fort Lauderdale. He was in the Express Lane of I-95, and it started raining. Hard. He was a champ navigating through it though, and we were able to get back on track after the storm. Got to the hotel and found out that we could park our car there for the week while we were in Mexico for $15/day. Bonus! We hit the hay when we got there ‘cause 3:30am is way early to get up.
