Weight Watchers, Flag Football, and Baseball

Ok, this post combines several subjects. First, on Weight Watchers, just a quick update on how I am doing. I just finished the second week. The first week, I lost 3 pounds. The second, I lost 4. Wo0t!! And it doesn't feel like I'm starving to death.

For flag football, we both missed the boys games last Saturday. Bill took Anton to the First Lego League robot competition which lasted all day. I had baseball tryouts all day. So, we got a friend to take Chris to his game (which they won 7 to 2), and Jean-Luc spent the night at his buddy's house (they won by several touchdowns too).

Baseball tryouts were grueling because it was all day. And people were registering. It's always a mishmash of getting people checked in and processing those that come late. I did get some great photos, some of which went on the Florida Today site. Chris got back from his flag football game in time to do most of his tryout. He did great by the way!!

Weight Watchers

Sigh. Went to the doctor for a checkup on my high blood pressure. I was supposed to try to lose a few pounds over the holidays, but instead I gained several. So, he put me on a low dose medication. And talked to me sternly about losing weight. He said the most effective program is Weight Watchers. He does not recommend surgical methods, and anyways, you have to try all other options before it comes to that. So, here I am.

I joined the online program. They give you "points" to work towards. You track everything you eat, it's converted into points. Once you reach the points for the day or week, you need to stop eating. The idea is to spread your points out so you have enough to last through the week, and you don't get caught short.

I'm really committed to this working. So far, I've stayed within my points for the last two days. And I've not been hungry.
