Race Day

From Mariah: Pain You Enjoy ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿผ‍♀️๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿผ#10K We have been training since February and today it all paid off. I PR’d and did not walk once. I am so proud of how far I have come. #utahvalleymarathon #halfmarathonnext

From Anton: I got tangled into this race because a fourth person gave us 15% off, so I guess you could say I trained for a discount and it was worth it๐Ÿ˜‰

NFC Championship

After the Steelers were out, switched to the Saints for the Semi-Finals before the Superbowl. My cousin Rafael in Brasil agrees!

NY Islanders Hockey Game

Neelima  S. and I went to the NY Islanders vs LA Kings Hockey game.  The Kings won, 3-2.  The first period was pretty boring and scoreless, but the second and third period were a lot more exciting.  This was Neelima's first game of any kind!

Hockey Game

Shawn G, me, Udaya P, and Arun R
Went to the hockey game on Tuesday evening.  It was the Florida Panthers vs the New York Islanders.  Guess who I cheered for??  The Panthers won, 4-2!  Heard a few choice swear words from the New York fans after the 4th goal...

San Antonio Spurs Game

Anton and I went to The Tower of the Americas. Closed because of poor visibility. That was a bummer! But, later we went to the San Antonio Spurs vs New Orleans Pelicans game. The Spurs won, 95-93 in the last half second of overtime. Great game! So now I've done all four major sports in 2014: Baseball (Washington Nationals), Football (Washington Redskins), Hockey (New York Islanders), and now Basketball (San Antonio Spurs). I wonder what I'm going to next year...

New York Islanders Hockey Game

Went to the Islanders game last night with Kim K, Bill H, and Udaya P. They won over the Ottowa Senators, 3-2, in sudden death overtime. It was Udaya's very first hockey game, and she enjoyed it very much since her kids have played it in the past.

Islanders Hockey Game!

Scored some tickets to the New York Islanders hockey game against the Winnipeg Jets.  Went with Kimberly K. and Arno K. (not married...).  It was my first hockey game, and it was interesting.  I got the tickets for free from the Long Island Marriot, and we sat in the Marriot box seats - nice!  They ended up losing, 4-3.  But, it was an interesting and rough game.

David and the Bucs

So my nephew David was quoted by MSN through FoxNewsSports:
Optimism abounds among fans at Bucs nighttime practice
..."It's looking really good," said David Watts, 23, a fan from Cocoa, Fla. "We already had a good team building with Revis and the other guys that came on this year, plus (wide receiver) Vincent Jackson and (running back) Doug Martin from last year. It's going to be a good year. We've been kind of in a rough patch, and now that we've kind of got our team building back up, we've got a good foundation again, good defense again. I think we're going to have a really good season." ...

Yesterday and Today

Walking early Friday morning, saw flocks and flocks of birds flying.  And that's the full moon on the left side of the picture.

And today, Chris had his very first Lacrosse clinic.  He liked it so much, he convinced me to buy a stick and a ball.  He's in the family room now, practicing...

Busy Day

Busy day today! Bill made breakfast this morning, then we were going to play golf. But the youngest two didn't want to play, so we were going to the movies. Jean-Luc had spent the night over at Aaron's, he got home and took Chris to church. After that, he went to the beach with Sarah. And after that, he went to play dodgeball with his "team". We went over to meet him for lunch, but mostly because he wanted us to buy him lunch. Here's the video of them practicing at the end of the post. After that, Bill, Anton, Chris, and I went to see Journey 2: The Mysterious Island with the Dwayne Johnson (the Rock). It was a Sunday popcorn flick, fun and adventurous. And now, the brief Dodgeball video:

Superbowl Ads

OK, this is pretty cool: Adweek.com has condensed all 61 Super Bowl commercials into one tidy two-minute video. (And after you watch it, you realize just how many of them consisted of violence, cars and/or beverages.)

Miami Dolphins football game

Went to the Miami Dolphins v Cleveland Browns football game. In Miami. It was pretty fun! Tied most of the game at 10 - 10, the Miami Dolphins lost in the last minute when the ball turned over and the Cleveland Browns kicked a field goal.

Tiresome schedule

Here's our latest weekly schedule, which will be the "norm" for the next few weeks:
Mon: Chris has baseball practice at 5pm
Tue: Anton has baseball practice at 7pm
Wed: Chris has baseball practice at 5pm
Thu: Anton has baseball practice at 7pm
Fri: All three have flag football practice at 5pm and 5:30 pm
Sat: Two football games in the morning and early afternoon, then Chris has baseball practice at 3pm
Sun: Anton has baseball practice at 3pm

Meanwhile, haven't yet heard when Jean-Luc's Little League baseball team will start up, but his Edgewood baseball team is starting practices next week after school from 3:30 to 5:30 on M, W, and Th. And he's also doing track practices after school from 3:30 to 4:30 on M, T, W, and Th. Yes, some overlap there, but he's going to hit track first then make baseball for the second hour.

Wet and Freezing Flag Football

Anton and Chris had a flag football game last night in the cold, cold rain. Yes, rained through pretty much the entire game with that chilly cold front moving down through our area. They looked like little popsicles out there, especially since both were wearing soccer shorts. Bill had them take a nice warm bath when they got home. I wish I had gotten some photos, but it was too dark. Next time, I'll have to take my camcorder as it does a better job when the sun goes down.

Jean-Luc has a game on Friday night, which is also supposed to have a rainy cold front moving through. Then they all have games on Saturday morning, which will still be cold. Winter has finally arrived in these here parts. Rest assured, mom will be wrapped up warm and toasty.

2008 Fall Ball from Aug 28, 2008

All boys have been signed up for Fall Ball. Chris is on a Minor 1 team (Navy), Anton is on a Majors team (Green), and Jean-Luc has moved up to the big field playing on the Junior/Senior team (Reds). The games start on Sep 6 and will be on Saturdays through the middle of November. You can see their schedules by clicking the Little League links to the right. Also, I put game summaries in under their game results, and I will add the highlights here too.

School has started - yay!

The Kids and the Atlanta TaeKwonDo tournament

While I'm online and in the mood to blog it...

Jean-Luc and Anton went to the Atlanta TaeKwonDo tournament with the Bergau's over the weekend while we were at my 25 year reunion in Orlando this past weekend.  Both did very well.  Anton got 2nd in Weapons, 2nd in Sparring, and a 3rd in his Form.  Jean-Luc pulled a 2nd in Sparring.

I suspect Jean-Luc worked a little harder as he was trying to shave a few days off his no TV for a week restriction.  He got the no TV for a week restriction for trying to burn down the house.  Well, not really, but I wanted to emphasize to him the importance of finishing something that you start.

I had asked him to please make some soup for the boys since I had shown him how to open the can, pour it in the pot, put in some water, stir, and pay attention the week before.  Well, he didn't know how to turn the stove on, so I did that for him as he was standing there watching.  Then I went off to finish what I was working on.  After a bit, I started smelling something burning.  I went into the kitchen.  There was the empty pot on the burner, burning.  Jean-Luc was glued to the TV watching cartoons, totally unconcerned.  I gave him the lecture and that's how he got the restriction.  Hopefully, it'll stick, but only time will tell.

Countries I've been to
